The homes are expected to average $0 in annual energy costs (or Zero Net Energy) with sale prices starting at $399,000. To achieve Zero Net Energy, energy-modeling tools are used during the project design phase to reduce power consumption of the homes. Energy saving features include spray foam insulation, Low-E windows, high-efficiency heat pumps, hybrid hot-water heaters, and Energy Star appliances. Photovoltaic (PV) solar panels produce the energy required to power the homes.
Each home features two bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and a private two-car garage. A mezzanine bridge connects the two buildings and provides an open air space between the buildings. Technology that makes daily life simpler is built into each home, including wireless thermostats and an optional automation system that controls lighting and entertainment systems. The homes feature high-end finishes including Poggenpohl cabinets, Samsung countertops, Grohe fixtures, and Bosch appliances.
