Professional dancer/ballerina to join CDA Staff

STANWOOD, Wash. - April 15, 2014 - PRLog -- Miye Bishop, dancer at Bellingham Reparatory Dance Theater, has joined the Camano Dance Academy and Performing Art’s Preschool faculty. She will begin teaching this July in ballet, pointe/partnering, and lyrical dance, reports CDA studio director, Terah Partridge.

Miye said, “I have been teaching for a little over three years now in Bellingham, and guest teaching in the states and abroad. Since January I decided to spread my own wings and get more experience working in different studio environments. I love getting involved with different dance communities!”

Partridge noted, “We are thrilled to have an instructor of Miye’s caliber joining our staff on Camano Island. Camano is such a wonderful place for a dance school, because the community as a whole is so supportive of the arts. We know our dancers and their parents will be thoroughly impressed with Miye’s level of professionalism, talent, and passion for teaching.”

Miye started her ballet training when she was ten years old in Sendai, Japan, and continued to pursue dance for fifteen years. She has been instructed at Northwest Ballet Theater, Ballet Bellevue, International Ballet Theatre, Kirov Ballet Academy, Dance Open in Russia, and American Ballet Theatre’s summer intensive.

After high school she began work as a dance teacher and performer at Western Washington University’s, Dance Makers, Bellingham Reperatory Dance, Shoko Sato Ballet Academy, Generation Peace Academy, and Schools in St. Lucia and Guatemala. For the Last three years Miye has been the dance instructor and performance director at the Northwest Ballet Theater. She has staged the Nutcracker, Coppelia, Les Sylphides, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and a few other original pieces.  Some of her lead performing roles have been Lucy in Dracula, Clara in the Nutcracker, Cinderella, Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Jasmine in 1001 Arabian Nights.

Besides instructing in ballet, she is a member of Bellingham Reparatory Dance in Fairhaven as a member, where she began her contemporary training at age eighteen.

Miye will be formerly introduced onstage at Camano Dance Academy’s upcoming performance, “CDA’S HOLIDAZE,” May 31, 2014, at the Everett Civic Auditorium.
