By: Scott Helmer Records Helmer is spending an entire year traveling more than 25,000 miles across America, performing 200+ concerts in venues ranging from these historic theatres to saloons to RV parks and campgrounds to arenas to Harley-Davidson dealerships, all to help charities and nonprofits raise $1 million for their good causes. The Support YOUR Cause Tour 2014-2015 kicks off on May 17, 2014 with a motorcycle ride and concert to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) at Los Angeles Harley-Davidson of Anaheim, CA, and wraps up with a benefit for the Calumet Theatre in Michigan on April 25, 2015. A snapshot of Helmer’s previous benefit tour ‘24 Nights – A Look Back’ can be viewed here This may be the first nationwide effort of its kind to help historic theatres. More than 40 have already signed up for Helmer’s tour, including the following six in the state of Michigan alone: Gem Theatre, Detroit, MI – January 22, 2015 (to benefit the Coalition on Temporary Shelter) Bohm Theatre, Albion, MI – February 17, 2015 Ramsdell Theatre, Manistee, MI – February 21, 2015 Soo Theatre, Sault Ste. Marie, MI – April 23, 2015 Braumart Theatre, Iron Mountain, MI – April 24, 2015 Calumet Theatre, Calumet, MI - April 25, 2015 “Michigan is showing a real love for its historic theatres,” Helmer noted. His concerts will feature an upbeat, energetic solo-acoustic set of rock and country favorites along with original material from his new CD, Wake Me When It’s Over, and is perfect for audiences of all ages. A full list of Helmer’s benefit dates can be found on the tour page of his website. Although Helmer will play free of charge, he does require that each theatre’s goal be to raise at least $5,000 during its event. Theatres also have the option of raising funds for a community cause of their choice. Helmer’s no stranger to using his entertainment skills to support good causes. He has played benefits for homeless shelters, anti-violence centers, toy drives, pet charities, victims of the 2012 Colorado wildfire and many other worthy causes. Instead, he hit the reset button on his life and created a new one based on three simple things, creating music, performing music, and helping others. To offset touring expenses, Helmer will sell copies of his CD, Wake Me When It’s Over, at each show. Recorded at the Waterfront Studios of Grammy award-winning producer Henry Hirsch, this contagious, radio-friendly rock album was written and performed by Helmer and his photographer- Historic theatres can join the Support YOUR Cause Tour 2014-2015 by filling out a registration form (http://www.scotthelmer.com/ End
