Windows XP users get a new tool to protect themselves online

Although Microsoft has discontinued support and security updates for Windows XP, millions of users continue to rely on the 12-year-old operating system. Today, xpXtend LLC announced a new solution to help XP users to safely use the internet.

OCEAN CITY, Md. - April 15, 2014 - PRLog -- Designed for easy setup and operation, the xpXtend system can help home and small-business users with XP-based systems to browse the web, use email and download files with confidence, even in the wake of Microsoft’s final batch of XP security updates released last week. xpXtend launched a Kickstarter campaign today to raise development funds to complete the new solution.

The new approach combines new communications software on the user’s PC with a new secure private network (called the XProtection Network) to ensure that XP users stay secure online. The new xpXtend software monitors all network activity, and directs both incoming and outgoing traffic through the XProtection Network.

In turn, the XProtection Network maintains directories of known internet locations – both safe sites and unsafe ones – and ensures that users stay away from risky places. This protects the user from accidentally encountering malicious software which can damage the user’s system or data. xpXtend also allows each user to easily add their own personal favorite sites to the XProtection Network; for example, the user can add their friends/family personal pages, or the web site of their employer. The company also provides regular updates as new risks or problem internet sites are uncovered.
