Presented by the Kona Cacao Association, Inc., the festival aims to promote the cacao industry on the Big Island of Hawaii. It also serves as an educational and outreach opportunity for local cacao farmers and cacao enthusiasts.
The three-day festival promises a fun and satisfying weekend with a farm tour, student competition, seminars, demonstrations and gala on the program. The Cacao Farm tour will happen at the Kona Natural Soap Company while all the other events will be held at the Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii.
“In every way, the Big Island Chocolate Festival is a celebration of luscious chocolate, which often caps the experience of fine dining. At the same time, it highlights the kind of camaraderie enjoyed by the friendly members of these exclusive neighborhoods here in the Kona-Kohala district of the Big Island,” explained Harold Clarke, the award-winning real estate expert and founder of LuxuryBigIsland.com
Because of this, Harold Clarke invites everyone who is looking for a new vacation experience in the Aloha State to be part of it: “The Big Island Chocolate is an event that is not to be missed by those who appreciate good food, especially gourmet chocolates. And it is held in the backdrop of the Big Island’s breathtaking views and brings forth Hawaii’s rich culture.”
The highlight of the Big Island Chocolate Festival is the evening gala which features unlimited tastings of sweet and savory offerings from 25 chocolatiers, an all-you-can-
Aside from enjoying the celebration, festival-goers can also help raise funds for two charitable causes via silent auction. Proceeds will go to the Kona Pacific Public Charter School and the “Equip the Kitchen” campaign for the new Hawaii Community College-Palamanui.
The festival also features the Annual Student Culinary Competition where the participants will create and vie for the best plated dessert. Celebrity judge Chocolatier Jacques Torres, and renowned chefs Donald Wressell, Vincent Bourdin and Stanton Ho will oversee the competition.
Truly, aside from being home to some of the most spectacular beaches and marine reserves in the Pacific, the Big Island of Hawaii also hosts vibrant community events that celebrate life in the Aloha State. Being able to participate in these events is one of the many privileges that come with living in the Big Island’s finest neighborhoods.
