ALLENTOWN, Pa. - April 14, 2014 - PRLog -- One Saturday Program hosted a launch party for over eighty guests on Monday, April 7th at American Hairlines in Bethlehem to celebrate the program’s success.  The event also provided an opportunity for participating nonprofits, businesses, and community partners to meet and learn about the program’s opportunities.  Currently, seventeen area businesses have acted as drop-off locations for collections held on Saturday, March 8th and Saturday, April 5th; thirteen area non-profits have benefitted from One Saturday collections thus far.  The next One Saturday Program donation will take place on Saturday, May 3rd.

The evening included music by Craig Thatcher & Nyke Van Wyk, food and drinks from Tapas on Main, Sugar Babe Cupcakes, Volpe’s Sports Bar, and Weyerbacher Brewery.  Additional sponsors for the evening were Tighe Orthodontics and AmericaVen.

United in a shared desire to bring awareness to local nonprofits and encourage community involvement, Paper Bag Child, The PEAK TV, and KLO-Events developed One Saturday Program to connect nonprofits, area businesses and the community with the goal of helping Lehigh Valley charities assist families and children in need.  Registering for the program is easy for businesses and nonprofits via the website: www.onesaturdayprogram.com.

About One Saturday Program:

Mission:  Donations made simple and local.  One Saturday Program makes it simple by designating the first Saturday of each month as the program collection date; One Saturday makes it local by using area businesses as collection sites.

Business Involvement:  Local businesses collect designated items for, and distribute information about, area nonprofits. Business owners can deepen their involvement by providing services, products, or volunteer time. Businesses benefit from new and return customers; further, they can provide incentives for donations that encourage contributors to stay and shop!  One Saturday Program highlights participating businesses through social media, e-mail, website, and other exposure.

Nonprofit Awareness: Increased awareness of nonprofits by local businesses and donors leads to increased volunteer and sponsor involvement, allowing nonprofits to serve more people and better spread the word about programs and events.

Individual Donor & Community Involvement: Community members and donors participate by donating requested items to those in need and by volunteering, holding their own collections, and spreading the word about upcoming events.

New businesses and nonprofits are added daily; a full list of participating businesses and non-profits across the Lehigh Valley can be viewed online at: www.onesaturdayprogram.com.
