Decorating the town the color of hope is a way for residents and businesses alike to show their support for, and get others excited about, the 2014 Ocala Relay for Life event. Paint the Town Purple participants are encouraged to get creative -- balloons displayed in the entranceway, a coat of paint on the front door or a landscape design popping with purple -- the possibilities to showcase your hope and support are endless.
If your business is supporting a specific Relay For Life Team, email your “Paint the Town Purple” photo to your team captain. If you’re not working with a specific team, just email your photo to email@example.com with “Ocala Goes Purple (Your Business Name)” in the subject line. We will post your photo on the Ocala Relay for Life Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/
The theme for the 2014 Ocala Relay For Life event, which will take place for 24 hours beginning at 6 p.m., May 2 at Trinity Catholic High School, is “Give Cancer a Permanent Vacation.” In addition to honoring cancer survivors, the event will feature fun, family-oriented activities and food vendors.
Relay for Life is The American Cancer Society’s largest fundraiser, and began 25 years ago when one man, who wanted to make a difference in the fight against cancer, ran 83 miles in 24 hours. Now each year 3.5 million Americans, follow in his footsteps. Relay for Life team-members take turns walking around a track for a 12-hour period, symbolizing that our fight against cancer never sleeps.
Relay For Life events are held every year across the country as a way to celebrate those who have beat cancer, remember loved ones who did not and come together to fight against the disease.
