3, 2, 1… Act!vate Library Reading Programs; Summer 2014 National Tour Itinerary

April 13, 2014 - PRLog -- This summer the troupe will pull a trailer full of props, sets and costumes well over 5,000 miles to bring a 45-minute theatre program to kids at select libraries in Arkansas, Kansas, Tennessee, West Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.

The entertaining, family friendly show “3, 2, 1...Act!vate” includes two stories chosen specifically to highlight the summer reading program “Fizz, Boom, Read” and “Paws to Read”. In one story, “The Dragon of Krakow” a pesky dragon begins to terrorize a town; “guest stars” (a group of up to 12 local youngsters cast ½ hour before the show begins) will join the professional performers as they try to defend the town and save the villagers.

The program is designed to boost literacy and foster the love of reading. Current research points out that increased summer reading reduces summer learning loss. Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, has stated “A key step toward stopping the summer slide, is the development and launch of high quality programs that take advantage of time outside the school day and year to help children learn, grow, and develop.”

The highly engaging, interactive show is suitable for all ages. Each performance is free and open to the public.
