Follow on Google News | Enhanced Treatment Optons Available for Pregnant, Post-Partum Women at SalusCareBy: SalusCare, Inc. “One new approach is an enhanced version of our regular residential curriculum and programming that includes a family-centered approach for meeting the special needs of pregnant and post-partum women, as well as the health and well-being of the family,” according to Rosemary Boisvert, Asst. Vice President of Residential Services at SalusCare. Included within this program are medical assessments and transportation to coordinated prenatal and post-partum appointments. Additionally, special attention is given to preventing behavioral and cognitive problems that may arise in children of mothers abusing substances. The program also offers education about proper nutritional needs during pregnancy, coupled with individual and group therapy sessions to address women’s issues. Mental health and wellness services are also provided, along with care management to coordinate other community services, such as life skills training. Upon discharge, the continuing care program offers opportunities for additional support in all areas of daily living. Another innovative approach, the Maternal Assistance Program (MAP) assists women who are pregnant or are within 12 months post-partum. Those eligible may receive free substance abuse treatment and therapy, in addition to incidental items, such as baby care supplies. “Both of these programs focus on treating and educating participants, with the ultimate goal of positive birth outcomes and a substance-free lifestyle for the mothers and their children,” said Kevin Lewis, CEO of SalusCare. For more information on either of these programs, or to arrange a screening, please contact Rosemary Boisvert at (239) 338-2977 or Beth Garcia at (239) 791-1584. Medical professionals who believe they have eligible patients are also encouraged to call for more information. About SalusCare, Inc.
