DELHI, India - April 10, 2014 - PRLog -- The Centre for Joint Warfare Studies and IMR Media announced on 10 April 2014, launch of Air Defence India 2014 Conference & Exhibition 2014, to be held on 24025 July 2014 at the Army's Convention Centre in New Delhi. The Centre for Asia-Pacific Peace & Security Studies is the Knowledge Partner for the event.

Majority of the Army's air defence equipment has reached its full life, of which, the following four are the worst of the lot:

• KVADRAT system in service for 30 yrs.
• L-70 air defence guns in use for 44 yrs.
• SCHILKA 23/4 SP in service for 34 yrs.
• TWIN barrel gun in service for 31 years.

Some of the systems have been modified, but much of the combat inventory is in critical condition.

India aims to spend $5.4 billion to buy some 1,000 missile launchers and 6,000 missiles for its Very Short-Range Air-Defence System (VSHORADS) alone. This is the initial order.

India has launched the procurement process for three types of SAMs - medium-range, quick-reaction and man-portable short-range missile systems - to replace the air defence corps' old Russian-origin Kvadrat, Strela and other systems.

The scope of the event is: -
• To assess and comprehend the multifaceted dynamics of the aerospace threat.
• To obtain inputs on the emerging concepts and technologies available in the field of GBADWS.
• To elicit inputs for improvement and upgrade of legacy systems..
•Battlefield Management in a dense AD environment and the Way Ahead.
