LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - April 10, 2014 - PRLog -- Celebrating its first year as an independent 501(c)3 organization, nonprofit Minding Our Business (MOB) has received valuable financial support from Investors Bank Foundation. MOB will apply the $2,500 grant toward its summer program for low-income middle school students.

To be held on the campus of Rider University from June 25-August 31, the Minding Our Business Summer Program: A Bridge to the Future for Mercer County Low-Income Youth, is an intensive two-week program providing 35 low-income middle school students with entrepreneurship training, motivation and mentoring at Rider University each summer. It also provides reading and math assistance to help facilitate student transitions from middle school to high school.

At a check presentation ceremony at the Rider University School of Business on Thursday, April 3, Investors Bank Vice President and Senior Market Manager Linda Martin stated, “Having merged with Roma Bank in December 2013, Investors Bank is proud to increase both its business and philanthropy in Mercer County. We support the efforts of hardworking nonprofit organizations that help people in the communities we serve.” Martin indicated that the Foundation was particularly impressed by MOB’s efforts to provide inner-city students with education regarding fiscal management, budgeting and business planning.

MOB Executive Director Kevin Wortham said, “MOB would, and could, not exist without donations such as this one from Investors Bank Foundation. The work we do with low-income youth contributes to the futures of not only these students, but to the overall Trenton and Mercer County communities. In addition to entrepreneurship, Minding Our Business encourages students to pursue their dreams, and, in a very hands-on way, emphasizes the power of motivation responsibility, education and hard work.”
