Follow on Google News | Japanese fitness classes to launch in London's parksLondoners keen on achieving maximum fitness results in minimal time will soon be able to attend 20 minute Tabata in the Park sessions across the capital, starting with a free taster day on Clapham Common on 5th May.
By: Tabata in the Park Tabata in the Park founder Vicki Martin discovered Tabata whilst looking for better ways to get results for her personal training clients, whose time was being increasingly eroded by pressures of work and family life. "Tabata is based on scientific research about how to work in the best metabolic zone for fat burning" Vicki (31) explains. "In the 20 second bursts, you work to the absolute maximum possible, then rest, using unique and challenging bodyweight exercises that take their principles from plyometric moves such as burpies. It's tough but delivers incredible results, unlike anything else I've used in my years in the fitness industry." Japanese founder Professor Izumi Tabata suggests each four-minute session is equal to an hour of jogging, an hour of moderate cycling, two hours of walking, an hour of Zumba or two hours of yoga. The Tabata in the Park 20 minute class consists of a dynamic warm up / mobiliasation, familiarity of the unique body weight moves, the main Tabata session and an all–important cool down. "If people exercise consistently, for long enough, good habits can form to improve fitness and health across their lifespan" commented Tabata in the Park instructor Tyrone Williams. "We can make that happen. 20 minute classes, in London's wonderful green spaces, should fit easily into most busy schedules & make Tabata a healthily addictive habit!" Research suggests that 50% of people who begin an exercise program will drop out within six months, the majority of which will in the first 2 weeks. The gym environment itself, and extra time needed to travel to the gym, may be one reason why people stop exercising regularly. So this new combination of effectiveness, accessibility and affordability (unlimited classes from £35 per month) seems likely to make Tabata in the Park a surefire success. The taster day is from 9.30 - 3.00 pm on May 5th, on Clapham Common near Long Pond. Tabata sessions will run at 10, 12 and 2 pm and all are welcome to meet the team, find out about the science and try the moves. No experience is needed but Tabata requires some prior level of fitness. For more information visit www.tabatainthepark.com or facebook/twitter Tabatainthepark. End
