June 6, 2014 - PRLog -- When we look back at the 2013 AMG Heritage Awards which were hosted by music legend, Chubby Checker, one can only wonder how the Artists Music Guild will top that for this year’s show? Fear not because it promises to be bigger and grander than last years in many ways!

The Guild's Executive President David L Cook, who is a 7 time Emmy award winning recording star and a current resident of Union County, says that this year's show will be full of surprises and celebrity appearances that will not leave anyone disappointed! "Last year we had such an awesome time and the stars that performed were off the charts. However, this year we have to step it up a notch and give the people sitting in the auditorium and in their homes watching on television something that will amaze them."

For the past three years the AMG's convention and awards broadcasts have been held at The Barn at Regent Park and the Heritage Grand in Fort Mill, SC. Many will remember that as the home of the Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker show for many years. Jimmy Davis, the president of the Guild said, "We have enjoyed our time out at Heritage, but the time has come for us to move to new digs and to bring a fresh face to our venue. The Guild has simply grown so much that we hope people can understand that our venues have to grow with us" This is why we chose to move the 2014 AMG Heritage Awards to the AG Convention Center in Monroe, North Carolina.

Moving the AMG Convention and Heritage Awards to Union County is a very welcomed move by many. Pete Hovanec, Director of Tourism with the City of Monroe said, "The city of Monroe is proud to partner with the AMG to bring the Heritage awards to Union County. This is a great opportunity for us to showcase our city and show what true southern hospitality looks like. We hope to build upon this event and look at what we can do to enhance it and increase the overall economic impact it has on the city and county."  Union County Commissioner, Todd Johnson said, "I am ecstatic that the AMG Heritage Awards have chosen to come to Union County this year!  The opportunity to have such a fine organization present it's prestigious awards in Union County is truly an honor.  I anxiously await the event and look forward to supporting the AMG's continued success."

The City of Monroe will have some of the most iconic stars roaming their street in November. The hosts for this year's show are two celebrities that come from totally polar ends of career spectrums. Country music star Billy Gilman who hit the country music charts at the tender age of 11 with his double platinum album, "One Voice" only to follow up that success with a string of hit songs and two more certified gold albums. He will be sharing the hosting duties with the world renowned star of stage and screen "Lamb Chop." Many will remember that Lamb Chop was the daughter of legendary ventriloquist and puppeteer Shari Lewis. Since Lewis' death in 1998 her daughter Mallory travels the country and abroad performing with Lamb Chop to legions of loyal fans. Lewis fondly refers to Lamb Chop as her "sister." Lewis said, “Lamb Chop and I simply can't wait to do this show and we are going to have so much fun!"

Now if that is not star power enough, let us give you some more of the dignitaries that will be in attendance. Let’s start with Grammy Award winner, Gloria Gaynor who had one of the most iconic songs in history with "I Will Survive." Then move on over to Chubby Checker who's legendary song “The Twist" remains the #1 most popular song of all time. The forever young, Ms. Dee Dee Sharp who sang the hit, "Mash Potato Time." Let’s not forget multi Grammy Award winner and gospel music royalty, Shirley Caesar who will be there to bring down the house with her powerhouse vocals. Dino Kartsonakis who played the haunting theme song "Chariots of Fire" will be there to tickle the ivories. Then to balance it all out you will have additional performances by country music legend, Terri Gibbs who had the hit song, "Somebody's Knockin." The First Lady of Christian Music, Ms. Betty Jean Robinson. Throw in a little "Rose Garden" by Lynn Anderson and powder it down with the velvet vocals of 7 time Emmy Award winner David L Cook and you have a show not to be missed! Oh let’s not stop there! CCM legend David Meece will be there to play the piano as only he can. There will be a few "Mandrell" sightings as Christy Sutherland and her husband Matthew Dudney (Barbara Mandrell's daughter in law and son) will be there to perform. There are many more celebrities that will be performing or in attendance and will be announced at another time.

Even the local arts community are gearing up to making a showing in this year’s event. The Union County Youth Ballet and The Eddie Mabry Dancers are already slotted for performances. Additional arts organizations will be announced at a later time.
