Restorative Yoga Workshop at Cancer Support Community MA South Shore

NORWELL, Mass. - April 9, 2014 - PRLog -- A Restorative Yoga Workshop for Cancer Survivors and their Caregivers will be offered on Saturday, April 12 from 1-2:30 pm at the the Cancer Support Community Massachusetts South Shore (CSC-MSS), 120 Longwater Dr., Suite 104 in Assinippi Park in Norwell. This workshop will focus on relaxation and renewal as well as educate people about yoga and its many benefits, especially for people impacted by cancer. Participants will do yoga poses with the support of pillows, blankets and blocks - accompanied by music and guided imagery.

Restorative yoga is active relaxation. By supporting the body with props, they alternately stimulate and relax the body to move towards balance. Some poses have an overall benefit while others target and individual body part.

Gail Colton, a Registered Yoga Instructor, will be leading the workshop. Gail completed her training at the OM Yoga Cancer Survivor Program in NYC and Yoga for Cancer Recovery and Beyond at Exclusive Yoga in Waltham, Ma.

Proper yoga tools can modify temporary, as well as life long side effects, that may result from having gone through various cancer treatments. This unique yoga class addresses the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of people impacted by cancer, regardless of where they might be in their cancer journey.
