April 9, 2014 - PRLog -- The Yacht will set sail from Portsmouth on 16th October 2014 and return on 16th April 2015. Destinations include St Malo, the Canaries, Barbados, Antigua and the Bahamas returning via the Azores and County Cork. The journey will be broken down into 8 different legs ranging from 7– 26 days. With no previous sailing experience necessary, this is a unique opportunity for anyone over 18. There is also a very special element to the Challenge in facilitating 8 people with life-limiting illnesses to be able to take part in each one of the legs, along with their carer.

Brendan McInerney who is sailing the Falmouth to Canaries leg enthuses:
"I decided to participate in the Atlantic Challenge for St Margaret’s Hospice to raise money for a worthy cause with an adventure. I recently earned my Yachtmaster Coastal Skipper of Competence and hope to gain experience which will help towards Yachtmaster Offshore and my retirement dream of exploring oceans on a yacht."
