LONDON - April 9, 2014 - PRLog -- The industry established ADMET conference for combining ADMET optimisation in discovery with essential networking and collaboration opportunities, will be taking place on 30th June and 1st July at The Marriott Regents Park Hotel, London.

Highlights this year include four presentations with a focus on Toxicology:

1. The role of non-clinical safety testing in drug research & development and clinical safety
Georg Schmitt, Head of Toxicology, Roche Pharmaceuticals

2. The use of label free technologies in drug development
Franck Atienzar, Associate Director, In Vitro and In Silico Toxicology, UCB

3. Experimental strategies to predict [and therefore avoid] adverse hepatic effects in clinical trials
Chris Powell, VP Safety Assessment, GSK

4. Assessing the effectiveness of non-animal models to predict toxicity
Alan Boobis, Professor of Biochemical Pharmacology, Imperial College London

David Stresser, Program Manager of Drug Metabolism Services from event sponsor Corning, said:

“The SMI conference looks to be a condensed but wide-ranging overview of current issues facing the ADMET scientist. I am looking forward to a good mix of ADME and Tox discussions on both small and large molecules.”

With a focus on enhancing drug quality by ADMET optimisation in discovery, this year’s event will feature over eighteen industry led presentations discussing ADMET in drug development, biologicals versus small molecules, predictive value of toxicity, in silico and in vitro approaches, drug transporters plus much more.

The event will also host 2 post conference workshops on 2nd July entitled:

A: Computational Approaches in ADMET | 08.30 - 12.30
Workshop Leader: Dr Nick Plant, Reader in Molecular Toxicology, University of Surrey

B: ADME for the Medicinal Chemist | 13.30 - 17.30
Workshop Leader: Dr Corinne Kay, Company DIrector, Med-Simple
