Fashionomics LIVE! and Lasting Legacy PR present Fashion Festival, a Student-Produced Runway Show

COSTA MESA, Calif. - April 9, 2014 - PRLog -- Lasting Legacy PR and Fashionomics LIVE! will present Fashion Festival, a student-produced runway show celebrating fashion, music, art and community at the OC Fair & Event Center on Saturday, April 12^th. Created and produced by local high school students from campuses throughout Orange County, this first year production will include talented students from local high schools including JSerra, Aliso Viejo, Claremont, Troy, Dana Hills, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills and The Academy.

The eclectic Fashion Festival will be one of several entertainment acts at the 2014 Vital Link STEM & the Arts Career Showcase, held in partnership with OC Fair Imaginology, at the OC Fair & Event Center April 11th to 13th. Fashion Festival will be held inside the Costa Mesa Building on Saturday April 12^th at 3:00pm, and admission is free.

The career showcase is a collaboration of exhibitors coming together to create an engaging, interactive career exploration experience for students, emphasizing careers in science, technology, engineering, math, and the arts.

The Fashion Festival segment of the showcase is an opportunity for students to experience the tasks and energy required to develop a production. “Not only does the show provide them with a multitude of tasks, it allows them a fabulous internship opportunity on the business and creative side so they gain a variety of experiences affiliated with launching a new show, while meeting fellow students from other local campuses,” explained Sherri Scheck-Merrill, founder of the career-exploring program Fashionomics LIVE!

“Lasting Legacy PR is overseeing the technical and production for Fashion Festival and providing professional actresses, singers and models”, states a proud Traillan Suthers, “Our talent is thrilled to be performing!” The talent includes Lauren Suthers, 13, nominee for “Best Teen Pop Artist” at the 2014 Indie Music Channel Awards; Victoria Strauss, 14, from The New Muppet Movie and who recently walked LA Fashion Week for Tumbler and Tipsy; Sophia Strauss, 11, who has appeared in music videos for Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran; Lela Brown, 11, finalist on NBC’s America’s Got Talent; Samantha Elizondo, 14, actress and singer most recently on E! Factor X; and Alexis Fowkles, 13, who plays “Annie” on ABC-TV’s Modern Family.

Local businesses supported the students with show needs such as styling and clothing provided by LF (Laguna Beach), Crossroads Trading Co. (Costa Mesa), and Sowell Jewelry (Costa Mesa). Sets were designed by students and manufactured by Majestic Home (Irvine). Hair and makeup will be provided by other Orange County based businesses: Bella by Design Studio, Dial M for Makeup, Acme Hairdressing, Marjan by Charisma, and Mary Kay.

Students opting not to walk the runway volunteered for the popular Pop-Up Internships offered by Fashionomics Live. Production Assistance, Photography, Videography, Public Relations, Set Design, Props, Accessories and Styling are examples of the project-oriented Internships affiliated with the Fashion Festival.

Fashionomics LIVE! takes High School students on an engaging Career-Exploring process behind the scenes at a variety of businesses and events teens can relate to. Tour Stop and short-term Internships are designed so students can enjoy the process of exploring multiple professions and careers both in the fashion world and out! The result? Hands-on experiences to include on college applications as well as the knowledge to be better prepared when the time arrives to declare a major in College!
