FREELAND, Wash. - April 8, 2014 - PRLog -- “We use "Uncle Dan’s™ Leather Treatment" on baseball gloves. It softens the leather in key areas on a glove or catcher’s mitt, which reduces the rebound effect when the baseball hits the glove's palm or the edge of the webbing. Beeswax also seems to have a naturally tacky-but-not-sticky feel that grabs the ball pretty well. You don’t want to over-do it, though, or you add too much weight.

“In youth baseball you’re on a budget, and early spring is wet around here. Rather than using the plastic baseballs, we keep some doped leather baseballs in the bag. The "Uncle Dan’s" keeps them from soaking up water on the wet turf. It doesn’t take much water to make a 5 oz. baseball a lot heavier, which is hard on young arms whether they’re pitching or doing a repetitive drill. You put a dozen balls in a warm oven for ½ hour, and then spread on a light coating.

“I’ve seen some guys who use Uncle Dan’s on their bats. It’s not as sticky as some grips, but has a tacky feel and isn’t messy.”
