Title: Keepers of Runes and the Tower of Shadows, By: Andrew D. Cratsley

April 8, 2014 - PRLog -- Keepers of Runes and the Tower of Shadows is an inventive adventure. The novel is an impressive debut from Andrew D. Cratsley.  This fantasy book takes readers on a journey into a world of knights, dwarves, and magic. Keepers of Runes and the Tower of Shadows is an enjoyable book that readers will love.

Keepers of Runes and the Tower of Shadows tells the story of Corinth, a 120 year-old elf who has changed from a thief to a sage knight.  Corinth then works to enforce justice in the fictional land of Terannesit .  Along the way, he encounters dangerous creatures, dark magic, necromancers, and much more.

The novel is an exciting escapade with Corinth as an engaging character. Even though he is a fictional elf, Corinth is a multilayered character. He fights to overcome his troubled past as a thief and the doubts of other townspeople to work as a noble knight.  Corinth is an elf with a large heart.  The supporting characters that travel with Corinth also entertain throughout the story, from his companion Norman to the charming thief Nadine.

A refreshing change in the novel is the depth of the female characters. The main female characters are well-rounded and likeable, a rarity in fantasy novels. Nadine is a gruff, but lovable character that holds her own against Corinth.  Rieka is a troubled, complex character that adds depth to the novel.

The novel’s settings make Keepers of Runes and the Tower of Shadows a great fantasy novel.  Enzlintine is a land full of dwarves that Corinth visits in the novel . The fictional setting of Terannesit in the novel is similar to fictional places like Middle Earth in Lord of the Rings or Hogwarts in Harry Potter.  Readers can fully imagine such places vividly because of Crastley’s writing.

The book would be perfect for fans of fantasy classics, like Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter.  Keepers of Runes and the Tower of Shadows would also be an ideal start of a fantasy series similar to other popular fantasy series.  The appeal of the book is wide, with the novel being accessible to readers from junior high to adults. This book would be a great addition to any fantasy reader’s collection or for fantasy book club selections.  Readers will be glad to have visited Terannesit and will be eager to return to read more of Cratsley’s novels.  This novel is an engaging book for every fantasy reader.
