Follow on Google News | Spring Study Tips for StudentsKeeping Students Focused on Studies, Homework, and Projects As Summer Draws Near Can Be Challenging
1: clearly define the student's long-term goals by reminding them what they want to achieve for the school year/semester as a whole 2: set aside time daily for homework; make sure a parent, teacher, or tutor is available during this time to keep the student focused 3: keep to regular meals, a balanced diet and a set night time routine 4: routinely praise good behavior and establish regular 'rewards' for tasks completed on time, good habits, extra effort, and positive attitude 5: together with the student, plan a special break activity or prize to reward the student for staying on target. In my Better Student program, I recommend using a timer to help focus. Your student can see just how much time is available to complete the task AND they can see that a break is coming. That helps keep tasks managable instead of overwhelming. To encouage responsibility and avoid arguments, let your student be in charge and set the timer to task-size time periods. By helping students remain focused and creating a definite system of rewards and praises, students, parents, and teachers can enjoy the weeks leading up to spring break with ease and success.
