SMART Recovery Announces Appointment of Jurgens Smit as Regional Coordinator for South Africa

MENTOR, Ohio - April 8, 2014 - PRLog -- SMART Recovery, the leading self-empowering addiction recovery support group offering tools for overcoming addiction based on the latest scientific research and is now doing so in more and more cities, towns and countries. “We’re pleased to announce a partnership with Jurgens Smit and Faces & Voices of Recovery South Africa.  Jurgens has agreed to serve as our SMART Regional Coordinator for South Africa. We believe this will enhance awareness and help to promulgate the growth of SMART throughout South Africa”, Dr. Tom Horvath, President of SMART advised.

SMART Recovery has reached 1100+ meetings worldwide via a distance volunteer training program for meeting Facilitators. Jurgens is a graduate of the distance training and recently enrolled a number of volunteers via his Faces & Voices network to train and to help to begin meetings in South Africa.

SMART Recovery meetings consist of various activities and tools aimed at helping individuals understand and correct the connection between their irrational beliefs, actions and consequences. A variety of tools are provided within the 4-Point Program^® and ways of handling motivation, urges, emotional upsets, etc. are discussed and then practiced by participants.

Faces & Voices of Recovery SA is a non-profit organization focused on recovery from alcohol and other drug problems. They serve as a resource to help individuals, families, schools, workplaces and communities improve wellbeing.
