Malaysia Launches Immigration E-Filing System

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - April 8, 2014 - PRLog -- The Malaysian Immigration Department (MID) launched a new electronic filling web portal (for online submission of employment pass applications) on 10 March 2014. This portal will be introduced to business entities throughout the year based on their industry sector.The new filing system will generate additional administrative burdens and may initially present technical challenges, reports Nair & Co. a provider of global HR services for companies with international operations.

The new system will be utilized for submission of Employment Pass applications to the MID. In certain cases, MID may require companies to also submit paper filings. It is important to note that paper applications are mandatory for companies applying for Professional Visit Passes, and having Multimedia Super Corridor (MDeC) or Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) status.

Further clarification on the new system is expected, as MID has not announced all necessary details or implementation dates.
