PALM BEACH, Fla. - April 7, 2014 - PRLog -- The Colony Hotel's Royal Room Presents Returning Favorites Bill Charlap & Sandy Stewart, April 15-19

(Palm Beach, FL - April 7, 2014) The Colony Hotel - which The Palm Beach Post has hailed as “probably the best place for cabaret on the planet” – is continuing its star-studded season with the return of the Royal Room's favorite mother-son singing duo:

April 15-19
BILL CHARLAP & SANDY STEWART
Jazz pianist Bill Charlap comes from a strong musical background. His mother and frequent performing partner Sandy Stewart (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandy_Stewart_(singer) is a popular singer who had a hit in 1962 with "My Coloring Book (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Coloring_Book).” He has recorded seven albums as a leader or co-leader for the Blue Note (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Note_Records) label, including two Grammy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy_Awards)-nominated CDs, and appears at least twice a year for lengthy runs at some of the world's major jazz clubs, including the Village Vanguard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Village_Vanguard). This is Bill Charlap and Sandy Stewart’s first engagement at The Colony Hotel Royal Room since 2005.

Reviews of Bill Charlap & Sandy Stewart:
+ Stephen Holden in The New York Times: “The singer Sandy Stewart imparts rock-bottom truths in a warm, humming voice that rarely rises above the level of an intimate conversation. The half-smile that flickers on her lips implies a profound wisdom about the things that really matter when you’re a certain age (Ms. Stewart is 75), most of all time and memory. She might be described as a pop-jazz Mona Lisa… While Ms. Stewart’s phrasing with its careful hesitations and emphases on key words maintains a serene facade, Mr. Charlap’s volatile pianism reflects the turmoil below the surface in abrupt changes of rhythm and mood. You might describe his playing as recreating the events that his mother is conjuring.”

Cost to Attend Bill Charlap & Sandy Stewart:
+ Tuesday through Saturday: $120 for prix fixe dinner & show; $60 for show only.
