“Entrepreneurship can come from all areas of study,” explained Barrett. “Adding the STEM scholarship this year is a nice fit with what we are trying to do, which is encourage students to think out of the box, create new ideas, and new businesses, which will ultimately lead to new jobs.”
The FSW Funding Entrepreneurial Scholarship is open to both undergraduate and graduate students and will award the selected student with $1500 for 2014/2015. Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time student at ASU Tempe, West, Polytechnic, or downtown Phoenix campus and possess a minimum GPA of 3.0. The deadline for application is June 1, 2014.
The application requires students to submit a 500-word essay explaining how they embody the entrepreneurial spirit and why it is significant, a current resume, an unofficial transcript and a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or employer. It is not necessary for students to display financial need or to be enrolled in a particular major to be an eligible candidate
The FSW Funding STEM Scholarship was established to honor and encourage a female student interested in pursuing fields of science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics. There is no application process for the FSW Funding STEM Scholarship, as the worthy recipient will be selected exclusively by the ASU faculty.
“We are excited to continue providing young entrepreneurs with funding that enables them to pursue their education and inspire their entrepreneurial aspirations,"
The Entrepreneurial Scholarship application can accessed online at fswfunding.com or through the scholarship listings at scholarships.asu.edu.
