ATLANTA – Damon Elmore, an Atlanta-area HR executive and Georgia lawyer, is determined to put the wheels of his bike down in every Georgia County. Rather lackluster in and of itself, but considering that means 159 counties and thousands of miles, it could be interesting. His reason, “I am still relatively new to cycling, and I enjoy the variety of scenes and terrain Georgia offers,” he said. “This includes the valleys I’ve seen in Harris or orchards in Macon County, waterfalls in Monroe and Greene and the historic sites in Baldwin – not to mention the coastal counties like my beloved Chatham.” But this isn’t just a casual outing. There is one other reason that has been the crux of his quest. “Cycling for me is important, and it has helped me adopt a healthier lifestyle and change habits. In addition to the wonderful scenes I see, there are fantastic Georgia families I meet that I know need help,” Elmore said. “That kind of help is provided by the Georgia Legal Services Program across the state. I now ride hoping to raise awareness for them. If all goes well, I would love to raise $15,900.00, symbolic of the 159 counties in Georgia.” So far, 79 counties down and over $3,400.00 rasied. He continues his quest on April 13, 2014, as he rides three (3) new counties in North Georgia. He hopes to meet more Georgians then, too.
