Internships at Dragon Divers Cyprus

Dragon Divers offers a number of diving internships to match your budget and time table enabling you to reach the heights of PADI Dive Master (or above).

PROTARAS, Cyprus - April 7, 2014 - PRLog -- Diving internships are an excellent way to find out and learn about a career in the Dive Industry without "throwing all your eggs in one basket!".  Internships allow you spend time within the dive industry enabling you to sample the life style before committing long term.  You can also start an inernship as a non diver eventually reaching PADI Dive Master over a relativly short period.  The most inclusive package, Dragon Divers offers is the Dive Master Experience package.  This package starts from whatever level the diver is currently certified for, let say Open Water Diver, and guides you through, Advanced Open Water, First Aid Training, Rescue Diver, and 5 Specialty certifications including Navigation and Deep diving.  Once complete, an intern can end up logging over 100 dives in a 12 week period, with experience in guiding local dives and assisting with an instructor to train new divers.

WARNING - There are a lot of Internships advertised over the internet and one word of advice is "if it sounds, too good to be true, it probably is!"  Always speak to the dive centre owner/manager and find out exactly what the internship comprises of!  If the Internship seems incedibly cheap, it will mean that you will be doing jobs around the dive centre that the instructors dont want to do themselves!  Yes it is a very good idea to get hands on experience behind the scenes in a dive centre, but do you really want to be put in charge of cleaning the toilets!!  With my interns i get them to carry out jobs with me not for me, for instance, after inspecting all  my cylinders (I am an authorised cylinder technician), i have found that 5 of them need repainting.  My intern and I will prepare and repaint the cylinders together, he is therefor receiving supervised hand on experience that can help him in future employment.  I will also be taking my intern out with me when canvassing so he can learn the art of selling experience dive course to the general public.  All of this however was included in the interview process so that my interns were aware of what they will be up to whilst under my tutelage.  At the end of a 3 month period, my interns will be ready for employment within the dive industry and nothing they are asked to do should come as a shock to them.  These duties aside, the interns will leave Dragon Divers as confident and experienced recreational diving professionals which will put them to the "top of the pile" when employers are sifting through employment applications.

So the main benefit of an Internship over just doing the course is the experince value of actually gaining hands on experience of dealing with real customers and not just professional divers role playing to meet the training standards.  Under the watchful eyes of a PADI Instructor this ensures that both the trainee and the customers have a safe and enjoyable experience.
