AMMAN, Jordan - April 7, 2014 - PRLog -- In an effort to support the underprivileged children of Jordan, Sheraton Amman Al Nabil Hotel hosted a fundraising gala dinner attended by Social Development Minister Ms. Reem Abu Hassan, who was deputizing for Her Majesty Queen Rania, and organized by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Middle East for the benefit of the SOS Children’s Village Association of Jordan.

Inspired by children’s laughter and smiles, the gala dinner was held in the Dushara Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton Amman and featured live Jazz entertainment by the Levant Quartet and comedy entertainment from Nabil Sawalha. Several unique paintings by talented SOS Village children were sold in an auction during the dinner and in addition to multiple prizes of hotel stays highlighting many of Starwood’s Deluxe properties in EAME were sold through a Grand Raffle with all proceeds going to SOS Children’s Village Jordan.

Guests of honor attending the event included the Senior Vice President and Regional Director of the Middle East Division of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Mr. Guido De Wilde, and Mrs. Reem Habayeb Chairperson of SOS in Jordan.

Sheraton Amman Al Nabil Hotel General Manager Mr. Enda Mullin said hosting the charity dinner reflects Starwood’s commitment to supporting local organizations working to offer better opportunities for at-risk communities, especially children.

“These children are Jordan’s future, and the SOS Children’s Village Association of Jordan is exercising formidable efforts to raise and educate underprivileged children in a nurturing environment, and we are happy to walk along that path with them to continue their mission,” he added.

Mr. De Wilde, along with other top executives from Starwood Hotels & Resorts Middle East, participated in the Annual Dead to Red Cycle Challenge and completed the grueling 267 kilometers in 10 hours to raise more funds for the SOS Children’s Village Association of Jordan.

Mr. De Wilde said he was thrilled to embark on this challenging endeavor for the benefit of the Children of Jordan. “I made a commitment to the associates of the Sheraton Amman last year to return to Jordan and to raise funds for a local charity of their choice. I am absolutely delighted to have been able to live up to my promise and to raise these funds for such a noteworthy cause to help build a brighter future for these children.”

The SOS association currently cares for 340 Jordanian orphaned and abandoned children, in three Villages and eight Youth Houses located in Amman, Aqaba and Irbid. The first Village was established in 1983.
