GeoComm Selected by Hamilton County, Tennessee for Public Safety Address Field Verification Project

April 4, 2014 - PRLog -- GeoComm is pleased to announce that Hamilton County, Tennessee has selected GeoComm to provide 9-1-1 GIS services for a countywide address verification including the City of Chattanooga. This project will consist of GeoComm updating several of Hamilton County’s GIS data layers as well as completing a countywide address field verification project.

GeoComm’s GIS Specialists will travel Hamilton County’s 2,945 road miles verifying both road names and addresses throughout the county. This field verification process will enhance the accuracy of the countywide Address Point Layer and help to eliminate inaccuracies in the current GIS data.  The project encompasses adjusting additional GIS data layers, which includes review and correction of the spatial accuracy of the Street Centerline and Emergency Services Notification (ESN) layers.  The main goal of this project is to improve the accuracy of 9-1-1 Public Safety GIS data.

This project will improve accuracy of digital map data used for 9-1-1 and emergency response in Hamilton County, Tennessee.  Accurate maps reduce emergency response times and help get emergency responders to the scene of an incident faster.” said John Brosowsky, VP of Product Management and Innovation at GeoComm.

The project, which will begin in April 2014 and be completed over a seven month period, also supports new Next Generation 9-1-1 industry standards that depend on accurate GIS data for routing 9-1-1 calls, and validating caller locations.
