Fight Colorectal Cancer Hires Policy Strategist

Experienced lobbyist and former congressional staffer, Margaret Carvin, joins Fight Colorectal Cancer to train advocates and advance colorectal cancer policy on the Hill.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - April 4, 2014 - PRLog -- This month, Fight Colorectal Cancer, a leading advocacy group focusing on colorectal cancer policy, added Margaret Carvin, an experienced lobbyist, former Hill staffer and cancer survivor to its team as Policy Strategist. Carvin will lead the nonprofit’s advocacy initiatives both internally and on the Hill. Carvin will work with congressional offices to push for colorectal policy changes and lead the advocate training program so survivor voices can be heard on the Hill.

“I am honored to be a new member of the Fight Colorectal Cancer team,” said Carbin. “I am excited to work on policy initiatives that will benefit this important cause and I look forward to working with the dedicated advocates whose stories inspire me to fight this horrible disease.”

Carvin brings more than 25 years of health care lobbying experience to Fight Colorectal Cancer. Prior experience includes working with the United Stated Department of Justice as legal counsel for the Office of Congressional Affairs and most recently, working as assistant director in the Congressional Affairs Office for the American Medical Association – working with the House of Representatives and Senate regarding health legislation and issues.

Carvin is a graduate of the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, Calif., and currently resides in Washington, D.C., with her family. She additionally serves as a member of the California Bar Association and Washington D.C. Bar Association.

“We are beyond excited to have such an experienced and passionate individual like Margaret on board,” said Anjee Davis, president of Fight Colorectal Cancer. “Her experience and passion in both advocacy and public health makes her an amazing asset to our team, and a great resource to the colorectal cancer community.”
