Operation Smile is a charitable organization that organizes medical missions throughout the world to help children who suffer from cleft lips or palates. This is a facial and oral malformation, and often appears as an actual split in the upper lip or roof of the mouth.
It is a common birth defect with an easy fix, a 45 minute surgery. But while children in the developed world do not have to worry about the birth defect, many of those in the developing world do. For these children they face a life where they will have difficulty speaking, eating, or smiling. Many of them will die early in their lives, many more will suffer from being ostracized by their peers and communities.
Operation Smile works to fix this by sending surgical teams throughout the world to help children with facial deformities live healthier and happier lives. Assistant Manager Eric Bond comments, “Here at 600 Global we love any chance to raise money for operation Smile. Know that the money is going towards helping children who would not otherwise be able to have these surgeries is an extremely rewarding feeling.”
Along with Operation Smile, 600 Global is involved with many other organizations to give back including; Children’s Hospital and the Red Cross. 600 Global has committed to have at least one philanthropy event a month, upcoming events will be advertised on their facebook page.
