Mindshare Backs Long Run to be Social Media Winner of Grand National

 
April 4, 2014 - PRLog -- London: Mindshare Worldwide, the global media agency network, has identified Long Run as the social media winner of the Grand National ahead of Saturday’s race.

Amateur jockey Sam Waley-Cohen’s Long Run is currently 12/1 to win the race and has also seen a surge of interest on social media, taking a mammoth 84% share of voice from the top ten horses mentioned online. If Long Run wins, it will be the first horse since 1975 to win both the Gold Cup and the Grand National.

The research is based upon mentions of horses running in the Grand National across social and traditional media channels between 2nd January and 2nd April 2014 and covers the top ten horses by share of voice.

Norm Johnston, Mindshare Worldwide chief digital officer, said: “We believe that everything begins and ends with media, and for big events such as the Grand National it’s no different. The results on the track will come down to performance on the day, but the social buzz seems to back the current betting. There are other interesting trends coming through too, such as Rocky Creek seeming to be punching above its weight in mentions, being low down on the odds list but with lot of people talking about it.”
