STW designed the NGS2 gyroscope sensor especially for mobile work machines and off-highway vehicles. It has a robust housing that makes it suitable for the harsh conditions associated with off-highway applications. As a gyroscope sensor the 3dB bandwidth is 40Hz. In the standard unit, the measuring range is set to 50 °/s. The achievable resolution is 0.25 °/s. In addition to the gyro sensor, an optional accelerometer can be included. The inclination can be determined from the accelerometer, and the acceleration values can also be read. The output data are available over a CANopen interface. Optionally, analogue outputs can be added to provide one output signal per axis.
The sensor has a diagnostics function and the offset can be re-calibrated via the CAN Bus. The power supply is suitable for 9…36VDC and so covers 12V and 24V vehicles. Maximum operating temperature is between range is -40…+85 °C.
