Rhoads Energy offers targeted program for "Gas Beyond The Mains" customers

LANCASTER, Pa. - April 3, 2014 - PRLog -- (Lancaster, PA)    Rhoads Energy has created a specialized propane program to serve the region’s customers who are being phased out of UGI’s “Gas Beyond the Mains” (GBM) service.

The GBM program served customers in areas where UGI had planned to extend natural gas lines to those households.  As a stop-gap measure, UGI had agreed to provide those customers propane fuel at a discount from natural gas prices.

After several years operating GBM, UGI recently notified customers that it would abandon the program and that customers would have to purchase propane at market rates. The utility is offering GBM customers $1,500 through April 30, 2014 to assist with the transition.

“The discontinuation of the program creates real challenges for GBM households,” said Michael DeBerdine, CEO of Rhoads Energy. “One of the only silver linings:  they can now work with a propane provider of their choosing.”

UGI had worked with a propane partner to provide GBM service, but with the closure of the program, customers can now select any propane provider. Rhoads Energy, a full-service energy company, developed a program to help smooth the transition for GBM families. Key elements include:

·         Competitive pricing:  While market propane prices remain high, Rhoads Energy currently offers a competitive low rate for customers phasing out of GBM.

·         Tank flexibility:  GBM customers can purchase their older propane tanks from their existing provider or purchase a new tank from Rhoads Energy.

·         Payment plans:  Filling a propane tank can cost thousands of dollars. The Rhoads Energy program enables qualified customers to stretch payments across 11 months, with no interest and no fees.
