LAFAYETTE, La. - April 3, 2014 - PRLog -- Find Lots of Sample Wordings for School Graduation Announcements and Invitations

Although few will admit it, most are concerned and apprehensive about creating the wordings for their school graduation announcements invitations stationery cards. But, stated simply, there really is no right or wrong way for your invitations announcements wordings, but there are some suggested guidelines that will help you during your process. And, these apply to all type school graduations, from kindergarten and preschool, high school and homeschool, to special type graduations and advanced college graduating occasions.

Proper Use of Numerals in Your Graduation Wordings

When using numerals in your graduating text, the ordinal 'th' or 'st' is not used when the year is included. For instance, 'June 21st' is correct, but 'Junes 21st, 2020' is not. The 'st' or 'th' is seen in corner copy words where the year is not written but understood. This format is seen in a graduate announcement that includes the year before the date is written. In situations like these, the year is omitted and will appear as if the announcing card announces the 'Graduation of the Class of Two Thousand Twenty'. The year is not written again later in the invitation announcement when the date is included.

Punctuating Your School Graduating Wordings

Although, punctuating is usually seen as a precise measure, there are some simply rules to be followed. Punctuation at the end of each line is usually deleted unless it is necessary for correctly understanding the meaning of the announcement invitation card. You will want all prepositions to remain on the same line as their object. Here is a do and then a don't:

DO: 'Please join us for a celebration / on Friday, the fifth of May'
DON'T: 'Please join us for a celebration on / Friday, the fifth of May'

The prepositions should remain on the line above and the name of the student or the event on a line by itself.

Capitalization of Words Assistance

You should capitalize the first word of each or your lines only when it is the first word in a new sentence or phrase. The words Commencement,' 'Graduation,' 'Commencement Ceremony,' and 'Home School Graduation' are usually capitalized when they are the primary 'event' that the recipient is being informed of or invited to. One, always confusing, word is 'homeschool' as compared to 'Home School'. Basically, it is really up to you, but the more popular view is to use 'Home School' when used as a noun and 'Homeschool' when used as a verb.

Beware of Some Common Problems

If you want your words written in a manner so that the names appear as 'signatures' at the bottom, which is first person wordings, you should not use any additional words below the names. This is done primarily for the visual effects and should make the space above and below the parents' names to more or less appear as floating on the page by drawing the readers' attention to that line. By laying out the text in this manner, the name of the parents become the most prominent line, eliminating the thought by many that it should be placed near the graduate's name.

You should always proof read your graduation invitation announcement card wordings before approving and mailing, irregardless of the words, verses, phrases, or sayings you use. The ordering process at InvitationsByU.com will ask your permission to make minor changes in your words before sending your proof for approval. However, for major changes, they will contact you before setting it up and sending your proof to you.
