Snell & Wilmer Plays Key Role in ABA Section of Litigation Conference in Arizona

PRLog - April 3, 2014 - PHOENIX -- Snell & Wilmer is proud to play a leading role in the planning and implementation of the American Bar Association’s Section of Litigation Annual Conference, being held at the Phoenician in Scottsdale, Arizona on April 9-11.

“The ABA Section of Litigation is honored to have Arizona serve as the backdrop for our 2014 Section Annual Conference,” said Don Bivens, chair of the ABA Section of Litigation and a partner at Snell & Wilmer. “The conference is the key national forum for litigators and brings together lawyers and judges from across the country for the latest updates and developments in trial advocacy. Attendees will hear from an impressive roster of nationally known speakers and participate in numerous CLE programs and networking opportunities.”

Bivens, along with Snell & Wilmer partners Kelly Kszywienski and Jeff Willis, are on the planning committee for the conference, which offers more than 45 CLE sessions and features 150 of the nation’s most celebrated judges, academics and trial lawyers, as they address litigation developments and the latest techniques in trial advocacy. The Section of Litigation, the ABA's largest practice specialty section with more than 59,000 members, is dedicated to helping litigators become more effective advocates for their clients.

In addition to its role on the planning committee, Snell & Wilmer has a presence in the conference programs. Kelly MacHenry, a partner at the firm, will be a panelist in an afternoon session on the “Anatomy of a Trial, the Trail of Wyatt Earp.” This day-long training on April 9 will analyze the trial following the famous gunfight at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona, which is generally regarded as the most famous gunfight of the American Old West. Phoenix partner Cynthia Chandley will be presenting in the April 10 afternoon program, “The Data Abyss: Clients, where do your documents go when the case is closed?” and partner Rick Herold will moderate and participate on a panel entitled “Litigating Privacy and Data Breach Issues in 2014” in a morning session on April 11.

Janet Napolitano, the former U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security and the first woman to be president of the University of California, will be the keynote speaker at the April 10 Diversity Leadership Award and John Minor Wisdom Public Service and Professionalism Award Luncheon.
