JENSEN BEACH, Fla. - April 3, 2014 - PRLog -- The National Writing for Children Center is a showcase of children's book authors and illustrators. This month, the NWFCC has SIX authors in its showcase.

The Author: Barry Rudner has been a writer and poet of self-esteem books for children for over thirty years.

The Book: In his powerful and poignant new book Silent Voice, Rudner highlights the pandemic occurrence of autism, how it can afflict any child, and, like any malady, how it robs children of their youth, impacting families and communities everywhere. The carefully crafted verses in Rudner’s compellingly illustrated picture book vividly reveal the horror of a disease that afflicts one in eighty-eight children.

The Author: Suzanne Lieurance is an author, freelance writer, writing coach, speaker and workshop presenter. She is a former classroom teacher and was an instructor for the Institute of Children’s Literature for over 8 years.

The Book: The Locket is the story of Galena, an eleven-year-old Russian-Jewish immigrant who lives in New York City with her family and works at the Triangle Shirtwaist Company factory with her older sister Anya. The factory pays low wages and has terrible working conditions, making Anya yearn to join a union.

The Author: Mayra Calvani writes fiction and nonfiction for children and adults and has authored over a dozen books, some of which have won awards. Her stories, reviews, interviews and articles have appeared on numerous publications.

The Book: The Water Cycle follows the water droplets in their journey from the clouds to the earth and back to the clouds again. Written in a lyrical style, the book takes a new angle on the water cycle by showing the feelings it evokes in people.

The Author: Annie Tipton made up her first story at the ripe old age of two when she asked her mom to write it down for her. (Hey, she was just two–she didn’t know how to make letters yet!) Since then she has read and written many words as a student, newspaper reporter, author, and editor.

The Book: In Chuch Camp Chaos, the second fabulous release in the Diary of a Real Payne series, you’ll find yourself ROTFL as EJ is more than ready to be done with Ms. “Picky” Pickerington, CoraLee McCallister, and fourth grade in general

The Author: Dawn Menge has a Bachelors in Human Development, Masters in Special Education and a Clear credential as an Education Specialist. She is currently a doctoral student specializing in Curriculum and Instruction.

The Book: In Queen Vernita Explores the Oceaneer's Coastline, Queen Vernita and Carl take a coach trip up Oceaneers majestic coast. They learn what a Stalagmite and Stalactite are as they explore caves.
