Protochips launches new microwell E-chips for use in the Poseidon 200 liquid flow holder

Protochips announces the commercial release of a new line of reinforced microwell environmental chips with fixed liquid thickness for the Poseidon 200 in situ liquid flow system.

RALEIGH, N.C. - April 2, 2014 - PRLog -- Protochips (http://www.protochips.com), a company specializing in revolutionary products for in situ electron microscopy, today announced the release of a new line of E-chips for the Poseidon 200™ for liquid in situ electron microscopy. The Poseidon product platform enables scientists and engineers to image both materials and biological samples that are self-contained within a fully hydrated environment, effectively creating the native liquid environment of a sample inside the TEM. Samples that previously required bench top experimentation can now be studied directly in their native liquid environment while observing them in real time at high resolution.

Leveraging off the Protochips E-chip™ consumable technology for sample supports, the microwells are an in situ solution that allow scientists and engineers the ultimate in performance and flexibility for liquid in situ electron microscopy. The innovative design of microwell E-chips provides a very robust structure that provides a consistent liquid layer by creating smaller “microwells” within the E-chip. This improves resolution, while at the same time increasing the overall usable imaging area. Areas of interest within the sample are isolated, providing users with many unique experiment sites on a single chip. This combination of features will enable scientist to have dynamic control and to observe samples at unparalleled resolution.
