A language learning expert shows the wayCypress Dome Publishing just released Language Master Key: How to Unlock Your Brain's Ability to Learn Any Language by Ron Gullekson. The book is on sale at Amazon and available for the Kindle at http://www.amazon.com/ Gullekson is a Florida-based translator and technical writer with over a decade of experience in the communication field. In addition to his native English, he speaks Arabic, Spanish, and German. "I wrote the book because I saw smart, motivated people making the same basic mistakes over and over again," Gullekson said. One mistake? Believing they can't learn a language. "Anyone can learn a language," Gullekson said. "Some people may pick things up faster than others, but with few exceptions everyone can learn a new language, regardless of age, educational background, or even natural ability." Another mistake? Not listening enough. The 125-page book's central premise is that out of the four skills a language learner must develop—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—listening is the most important. According to the book, paying attention to a language's sounds is the master key that unlocks the brain's ability to process and learn language. "When you hear sounds, intonations, and rhythms, you are able to find and internalize patterns in the chaotic mess of symbols and codes that we call language," Gullekson said. The book contains a step-by-step program to take advantage of this phenomenon, as well as detailed instructions for several kinds of learning activities. Gullekson runs the popular language-learning website Language Surfer (http://www.languagesurfer.com). End
