PRLog - April 3, 2014 - CHISAMBA, Zambia -- The launch of the Agritech Expo is expected to attract some 8000 agri-professionals at GART in Chisamba, Zambia from 4-5 April. It is the country’s first full-scale, live agriculture event, offering everything from a conference, technical workshops, live crop trials to first-hand demonstrations of the latest in large scale agricultural machinery.

More than 60 exhibitors will display the latest technology in farming and post-harvest equipment as well as products and services ranging from seeds, through fertilizers, crop protection products, and irrigation.
Zambia’s Vice President Dr Guy Scott and the new Zambian Minister for Agriculture and Livestock, the Honourable Minister Wilbur Simuusa, will both attend and speak at Agritech Expo.
“Farmers can get their hands dirty”
The Zambian National Farmers’ Union (ZNFU) is a key founding partner in the Agritech Expo. Says ZNFU Executive Director, Mr Ndambo Ndambo: “we are confident that the Agritech Expo will be able to ignite interest to the members of the Union and the entire agricultural sector to take advantage of the variety of technologies to choose from to make their farming businesses a success. It could not have come at a better time.”

Workshops for emerging farmers
Another key partner in the event, the USAID’s Southern African Trade Hub, will present free workshops designed particularly for small holders and emerging commercial farmers, to provide them with the basic information and context to better understand the technologies that are on display and available.
