Baby Lock Makes April 2014 a Bigger & Better National Serger Month

New Baby Lock Serger Sweepstakes & New Baby Lock Serger Events

April 2, 2014 - PRLog -- APRIL, ST. LOUIS—To pay homage to the machine that started its company legacy, Baby Lock deemed April 2013 as National Serger Month. Baby Lock will amp up serger excitement yet again during the second annual National Serger Month this April. To keep things fresh in 2014, Baby Lock is giving away an Ovation ExtraordinAir™ Threading serger, a number of new serger projects, and new serger videos for National Serger Month supporters.

In 2013, National Serger Month created quite the serger buzz among bloggers and social media users. This year, Baby Lock will keep the serger excitement alive with a sweepstakes featuring a Baby Lock Ovation serger as the grand prize. The Ovation made its debut in the fall of 2013 as the new top of the line Baby Lock serger. It has a larger space to the right of the needle than any other serger available—five inches.  The Ovation also has Baby Lock ExtraordinAir™ Threading, Automatic Thread Delivery (for easy, automatic tension adjustments), and other Baby Lock exclusive features. This eight-thread serger has been popular since its debut and one lucky visitor to www.NationalSergerMonth.com will win it this spring.

Additionally, National Serger Month supporters can expect to see new serger projects on the site from Baby Lock Sewlebrities like Nancy Zieman, Simple Simon & Company, Lindsay Wilkes, and Patty Young. There will also be brand new videos and serger how-tos to help people better understand what a serger can do.

New on the National Serger Month website this year, Baby Lock will highlight special serger events hosted by Baby Lock Retailers across the country. These events are a great way for people to get an up-close look at how a serger works and ask questions to figure out which serger is right for them.

How to Participate:

Many Baby Lock retailers across the nation will promote National Serger Month with special events. Sewing enthusiasts are encouraged to visit local retailers for demonstrations and special offers.

Additionally, sewing enthusiasts are encouraged to celebrate the month by visiting www.NationalSergerMonth.com. The website will house free serger projects and serger tips from sewing experts and Baby Lock Sewlebrities.

To further promote the month, Baby Lock is also hosting a sweepstakes for sewing enthusiasts to win a Baby Lock Ovation ExtraordinAir™ Threading Serger.

Sewing enthusiasts are encouraged to celebrate National Serger Month with friends and spread the idea through social media. This is an opportune time to take photos with sergers, share inspirational projects and helpful tips on best serger practices.

Why Baby Lock?

Today Baby Lock offers a wide range of sewing, embroidery and quilting machines, but its roots are in sergers. Baby Lock got its start when a group of engineers in Japan took a chance on a new product. It was a smaller version of an industrial overlock machine or a “baby lock”.  A St. Louis-based, family-owned company saw the benefit of this new machine, and brought it to the United States. This marked the introduction of the first home serger in the U.S. market.

This new machine gave home sewing enthusiasts an opportunity to sew and finish seams like a professional.  Over the years, Baby Lock developed new technology, unseen on other sergers. It makes sense that Baby Lock would celebrate the machine that started its legacy.

About Baby Lock:

Baby Lock has been a leader in the sewing industry for nearly 50 years. The company brought the first home serger to the market in 1964, and since then has introduced patented features to the world of serging. Baby Lock also offers a full line of other products that enhance the love of sewing, including easy to use sewing and quilting machines, embroidery products, exclusive software and industry-leading Gold Standard service and support.

Numerous celebrities in the sewing industry prefer Baby Lock machines, like Nancy Zieman, host of the PBS television show “Sewing With Nancy”. Similarly, Quilters Hall of Fame inductee, Eleanor Burns, represents Baby Lock’s quilting line of machines. Additionally, Baby Lock machines are on set of Fons & Porter’s “Love of Quilting” hosted by Marianne and Mary Fons. Other “sewlebrities” such as Jenny Doan of the Missouri Quilt Star Company, blogger Lindsay Wilkes, and more are all proud Baby Lock users.
