Recruiting a permanent child psychiatrist has been a challenge for SMA as these professionals are a limited resource and in demand throughout the nation. For the past year SMA has been able to provide quality interim psychiatrists to provide care to children. However, bringing on a child psychiatrist of Dr. Castells’ caliber will improve those services and provide stability for the clients and the community.
Dr. Castells, who has been in practice for 27 years, most recently was the Director of Children’s Crisis Services at New Horizons of the Treasure Coast in Ft. Pierce, FL. She is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Susan White will provide adult psychiatric services in Putnam County, replacing Jack Amole who is transferring to SMA’s St. Augustine office. White, who is relocating to Putnam County from Arizona, has been a medical provider for the past 23 years, including the past four years as a Psychiatric ARNP.
“Dr. Castells and Susan White are welcome additions to our Putnam clinic. Our clients are looking forward to a permanent child psychiatrist in these areas,” said SMA’s CEO Chet Bell.
