Federation University Australia’s Wimmera Campus announces a new breed of undergraduate degrees

PRLog - April 1, 2014 - Federation University Australia’s Wimmera Campus has expanded its tertiary programs with the launch of two new courses. The new Bachelor of Applied Management and Master of Leadership will be available at the campus from July.

“This initiative has been launched to boost higher education in regional Victoria,” Professor David Battersby, Vice-Chancellor of Federation University Australia, said.

“The structure of our courses provides our students with the flexibility and one-on-one attention they deserve; smaller classes and sessions ensure the highest standard of learning is delivered locally yet affordably.”

The Bachelor of Nursing and Bachelor of Education (Birth – Year 6) also is available at the Wimmera Campus.

The Australia Bureau of Statistics has reported that over the past decade nationally, there has been a 10 per cent growth of people aged 25-64 with a higher education qualification. The demand on institutions has never been greater.

A key determinant of regional economic development is the knowledge and skills with which people contribute to society and the economy.

Despite this significant growth, the availability of skilled workers is a key regional development issue.

With the pending retirement of the baby boomer generation, the development of regional and rural individuals is a critical part of addressing anticipated regional labour shortages.
