New App Connects Fans with the Best Photos and Videos from Live Music Events

TORONTO - April 1, 2014 - PRLog -- Next 36-backed startup, Encore, launched their concert memories app out of beta on the App Store this past weekend. It is now available in 32 countries, including Canada, the US, Britain and Australia.

The free mobile app builds time capsules from the photos and videos taken by crowds at music events. Content is pulled from social media sites including Instagram, Flickr and YouTube. Users add past concerts to their profile and tag friends that attended with them. The app has millions of photos and videos from hundreds of the thousands of events going back to Woodstock.

“In the past, people kept ticket stubs as a memento of shows they attended,” said Michael Warshafsky, co-founder and head of product for Encore. “With Encore, we’re trying to build a digital equivalent of the ticket stub.”

The app also makes it easy to find upcoming local concerts with listings of shows in every major city across Canada, the US, South America and Europe. Users can buy tickets and easily get their friends together for an event. Event data is powered in partnership with Last.fm, a holding of CBS Interactive.

“Notice the sea of screens at concerts? Live music events are the number one usage occasion of smartphones, and yet there is no go-to concert app,” said Nicholas Klimchuk, the company’s CEO. “We’re trying to change that with Encore. ”

- Event information including the lineup, location, show start times and music samples powered by iTunes
