ENCINITAS, Calif. - April 1, 2014 - PRLog -- A hosted Artists reception on May 1, 5:30 - 8pm, "All That Jazz” by local Artist, Cheryl Ehlers,  bold, dynamic, and musically themed art is created in watercolor and acrylic mediums.  Sharing a palette of vibrant color, this series has traveled to the Brubeck Institute and been hosted by the Villa Musica in San Diego.  Ehlers is an award winning, published artist that paints in an array of styles. Her choices of impressionistic, contemporary art are eloquently executed and sparked by imagination reflecting a passion for painting in the moment. “Art, for me is a celebration of life, a way to create an appreciation for the simple joys that surround me,” states Cheryl. As a youngster, she traveled Europe extensively and home was where you parked your shoes.  Art was the one item that did not have to be left behind, because it wouldn't fit into a suitcase.  She represents that joy in her art.  Art will be on display from April 4 to May 13, 2014.

Ehlers tirelessly champions artists and young students in our local communities and enriches lives in the process. She brings art together with people, while heightening the awareness of its value in everyone’s lives; thus her drive to support community events that bring art to the forefront.  Active in numerous art organizations, she finds the time to share with local youth. As Founder of The Stardust Arts, a non-profit visual art program, she reaches out to underserved youth in the community and continues to share the gifts of art and education.  Since 2009 she has served over 12,750 youth, and recently brought the “Angels” program into the element supported with individual sponsorship and grants. Within one year, The Stardust Arts was recognized by the California State Assembly and the San Diego Board of Supervisors for it contributions to art in North San Diego County. A special piece created by Stardust students also named “All that Jazz” will be placed on display during the reception. “Creativity and imagination resides within everyone and should be applied to passions that make you happy.” She instructs her students, if you believe in yourself, anything is possible.

Come meet Cheryl and “All that Jazz” at an Artist reception hosted on Thursday, May 1, 5:30-8:00 pm at the Encinitas 101 Mainstreet Association located at 818 S. Coast Hwy 101. A percentage of the proceeds of sales will be donated to support youth scholarships at The Stardust Arts.
