Connecticut Computer Science Career Fair

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - March 31, 2014 - PRLog -- Connecticut faces a shortage of computer programmers and technicians to staff new and growing ventures, retarding economic growth.  According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), the number of computer jobs is outpacing qualified graduates 3 to 1, and the shortages are expected to continue for at least the next five years.

The purpose of the event is to match the talented developers we do have with the demand.

The shortage of programmers—which is nationwide—is good news for students pursuing a computer science career.  According to NACE, computer science majors have the highest job-offer rate.

The April 14 Career Fair will include a panel of Connecticut CTOs discussing computer science career opportunities and the specific skills they look for in new hires.

Interested companies, students, and freelance developers can find a detailed agenda, directions, and registration links at www.CTtalent.org.  The event is offered as a public service by Gateway Community College and is free to exhibiting companies and attendees.

Participating companies will receive a six-foot exhibit table and a listing in a printed directory.

Skill-sets of job seekers include web design, mobile apps, software development, networking and social media integration.

Individual attendees may indicate their contact information, availability, and computer skills when they register.  This information will be forwarded to the hiring companies.
