BRUNSWICK, Maine - March 31, 2014 - PRLog -- Shanti Arts Publishing in Brunswick, Maine, announces the release of Nothing But Trouble, with short stories by master storyteller Bob Thurber and images by Vincent Louis Carrella.

Staggering in its honesty and bereft of all subtleties, this uncompromising collection of stories comes from the widely acclaimed and award winning master of the short story, Bob Thurber. Here he weaves his tales around such facets of the human condition as Fathers and Fools, Women and Children, Marriage and Divorce, and Art and Artifice. Typically unsettling and revelatory, Thurber knows how to cast a story that depicts the coarse reality of life, and his skills are displayed here with both passion and sentiment. Thurber gives the reader a chance, not to peek, but to plunge head first into the deep, dark mystery of simple existence.

Thurber received much attention for his debut novel, Paperboy: A Dysfunctional Novel (Casperian, 2011). That was followed by Nickel Fictions: 50 Exceedingly Brief Stories and Cinderella She Was Not: A Novelette in 2013. Thurber has had over two hundred stories published and has received over fifty literary awards and citations. His work appears in thirty anthologies.

Thurber has been called a raw and unique talent, a maestro of micro-fiction, an emotional terrorist, and The Sam Peckinpah of Flash Fiction.

Thurber grew up “dirt poor” in Rhode Island where he graduated public high school “by the skin of his teeth.” At the age of nineteen, he bought an electric typewriter and set out to become a writer. Thurber never took a writing class and has no academic credentials or degrees. Despite his lack of education, he studied and wrote every day for over twenty years and sold his first story at the age of forty-two.  His work is frequently used in schools and colleges as examples of concise prose. Thurber now lives in Massachusetts, where, despite vision loss, he still writes every day.

Thurber's stories in Nothing But Trouble are accompanied by photographs by the equally intrepid wordsmith and image maker Vincent Louis Carrella, author of Serpent Box (Harper, 2008) and a columnist for Stone Voices magazine.

More information about Nothing But Trouble may be found on the publisher's website. The book will soon be available from all major online booksellers and in many fine bookstores.
