The concept behind “Respect” surfaced on behalf of the deep roots of inequality between men and women, whether economical, social or physical. Mik Brown proves that regardless of gender, you can gain respect while being exactly who you are. “Being a woman in the world of Hip-Hop and such a male dominated industry is a constant challenge. Expressing and overcoming that frustration has been the sheer inspiration for this song and video,” Brown said.

“Respect” was filmed at one of Mik’s most inspirational hangouts, an open aired rooftop right off the historical Sunset Strip, chosen for the sense of strength and beauty it invokes. AzMarie Livingston, a fashion model and recording artist who rose to fame on “America’s Next Top Model: British Invasion”, pays her “respect” alongside Mik Brown playing guitar.
