This week The Flash got an even earlier goal, in the 3rd minute; by San Diego player #7 Nathan Medina (who scored in the 7th minute last week). Medina was assisted by #18 Alessandro Canale. The defense stepped up this week, as a 'Own Goal' was tallied for the San Diego Club in the 23rd minute. Just 6 minutes later, #8 Andy O'rtega got his goal on a Free Kick. San Diego held what seemed to be a comfortable lead of 3 : 0 with 10 minutes left in the half, but Del Rey City entered the scoring with a goal in the 35th minute. Halftime Score: Del Rey City 1 : 3 San Diego Flash.
The second half got under way with Del Rey City coming out more composed than in the first half. A few great saves by San Diego Goalkeeper #1 James Stroud were crucial in keeping the opponents at bay. The Flash were able to create more chances, but missed several opportunities to put the match out of reach. In the 89th minute a Del Rey City player was able to put one past the Flash Keeper to make things interesting. However, after 2 minutes of stoppage time, San Diego Flash came away with the 3 : 2 win to go 2 - 0 - 0 on the young NPSL season.
