The Seventh-day Adventist Church cares about your overall health and that is why the North American Division created a national initiative called Adventists InStep for Life and Let's Move, which emphasizes appropriate exercise and healthy living especially for children, teens, young adults and elders. As a part of the initiative, Delaware Ave SDA church is pleased to be a part of this world wide effort and created Delaware Moves to get the members of Delaware SDA and the community of Santa Monica, California moving in the direction of optimal physical health.
"God has entrusted to the Seventh-day Adventist Church some of the most precious truths ever given to proclaim to this world. Our Biblical understanding of Christ's message of salvation includes nurturing the whole person in every area of life--physically, mentally, socially and spiritually. Let us all become better acquainted with God's wish in 3 John 2 that we be in physical health even as we are in spiritual health. The Biblical message is a balanced message. It is important that we encourage people to allow God to lead in every area of living. One of the best ways is to start with our health since our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. In addition, we need to reach out to those around us in helping to meet their needs as Christ did,” says Ted N. C. Wilson, General Conference President.
Delaware Ave SDA aspires to meet the needs of the members and community of Santa Monica. The Delaware Moves aerobic class is one way the church is encouraging the people to “get fit” and “move for Christ”. Angela Settle accompanied by her husband Elder Edward Settle started the class after sunset at 7:30pm. Elder Settle arranged a classical soundtrack while Sis. Settle instructed the class on appropriate exercises that anyone can participate in despite age, gender or physical handicaps. Some of the exercises included Basic Step, Corner knee (or corner kick), Repeater knee (aka Triple knee), T-Step, arm exercises etc. The members and community had a fun time and look forward to the next Delaware Moves aerobic class.
