Green East End Wedding Showcase in Southampton Highlights Earth-Friendly Wedding and Party Options

SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. - March 28, 2014 - PRLog -- North Fork/South Fork Weddings has teamed up with the Southampton Historical Museum and L. Marie Events to present a special Earth Day event – the <a href="http://www.southforkweddings.com/green-wedding-showcase/index.php">Green Your East End Wedding Showcase</a> on April 27, between 12 and 4pm. This event will emphasize eco-friendly, earth-friendly and green methods and services for weddings and special events, and is the first green wedding showcase to be held in the Hamptons or the North Fork. Kate L. Harrison, author of The Green Bride Guide, will make a special guest appearance to sign copies of her book, which many consider to be a bible for earth-friendly event planning.

Weddings in particular are notorious for wasting resources under the guise of offering guests every comforting amenity and assuring perfection in every corner. In fact, some wedding planners assert that it’s not possible to maintain quality or follow a budget and still follow a green, earth-friendly philosophy.

The vendors participating in this event can prove them wrong. From menu selections to floral design, linens to bridal gowns, wedding couples have fabulous options for reusing and recycling, reducing their carbon footprint and serving delicious food that is humanely grown and sustainably harvested. These green options are often of better quality and no more expensive than the more impactful traditional choices.

Marie Events, is a certified green wedding planner, and has at her fingertips many resources for eco-friendly and green options. “There are plenty of fine quality eco-friendly products and services available at reasonable prices. It’s just a matter of knowing where to look for them,” she said, adding that very often the greener option is a better value than the high-impact original item would be.

The Southampton Historical Museum was selected to host the event because it is soon to unveil a new barn that will be offered as a venue for weddings and other special events. The current DIY trend is tailor-made for a barn wedding that can incorporate the greener philosophies, and the Southampton Historical Museum property is an ideal backdrop for the Green Your East End Wedding Showcase.
